How does it work?
Coshoperate.com allows you to join other shoppers in online co-operatives or "co-ops", in order to purchase products as a group and get a bulk discount. This means that we pool your order with other people's orders, who are looking to buy products from the same manufacturer. Once we gather enough orders to meet the manufacturer's minimum requirement, we put through the purchase, have the products freighted to our location, then split up the order and ship it out to each individual in the co-op.
What are the advantages? LOW PRICES! This site rewards smart shoppers who make their purchases ahead of time. If you do not need something right away, then a little foresight can be worth a lot of savings! There is also an "Early Join-Up Discount," so that the earlier you join a co-op, the more you save. The first person to join will receive the biggest discount; the second person to join will receive the second-biggest discount; the third person, the third-biggest - and so on. This rewards the people who join early because they have to wait the longest!
What are the disadvantages? You trade time for money. When you join a co-op, you may have to wait for it to fill up with other shoppers. IF YOU NEED YOUR PRODUCT IMMEDIATELY, THIS SITE IS NOT FOR YOU. However, if you do want a product quickly you can join a co-op that is about to complete (these are listed at the top of the homepage as "Almost Completed Co-ops"). If you are the last one to join a co-op, you may not receive as big a discount, but the order will be processed right after your purchase and you will have to wait the least amount of time!
To browse through our selection, you can click on various co-ops to see a list of products - then just proceed as you would on any other retail site - add products to your cart, enter your payment information, and choose shipping. Your card will not be charged until the co-op completes and we process the order. You may cancel your order anytime before a co-op completes.
So please look around the site and give us your feedback. We have a forum where you can request particular products or co-ops or post information about co-operatives in your own town. If you have any other ideas about how we can utilize the power of the group, please let us know.
